What is Monkeypox?


Monkeypox is a rare disease with symptoms like fever, headache, muscle aches, and rash. Rash begins on the face and then spreads to the rest of the body forming crusts and scabs. Those with weak immune systems suffer from serious symptoms when infected by the virus.

Transmission and Prevention

The diesease is largely transmitted by contact with infected individuals or animals. It can be spread through skin-to-skin contact with the rash, or through droplets or contact with contaminated objects. Moreover, the virus can also be transmitted sexually.

To prevent the spread of monkeypox, it is important to:
1. Do not come within contact with those who currently have a rash or any symptoms of infection with monkeypox.
2. Wash your hands with soap and running water as often as you can.
3. It’s safe to have sex by using condoms during intercourse.
4. Those at high risk of getting the monkeypox should ensure they are vaccinated.

The Global Outbreak


Monkeypox outbreak started in the year 2022, spreading to many parts of the world where it has caused tension among people and nation as it is a deadly infection. Do you know that most of the cases that have been recorded are from men having sex with other men?
Authorities and health departments are conducting measures to control its spread and halt its transmission by increasing vaccination rates, improving surveillance and educating people about monkeypox. Let it be known anybody can get infected with the virus.
