Strategies for Managing Cancer Fatigue
Cancer related fatigue is a well-known and has overwhelming experience. From what I have researched, it can be defined as fatigue that is chronic and disrupts the level of functioning. Do you know the confusing thing is that the condition persists even after a good rest and is thus important that measures should be put in place for dealing with this kind of fatigue?
The cancer-related fatigue can be best dealt with by adopting a regular schedule whereby one exercises regularly. Light exercises such as walking, simple yoga or stretches can improve feelings of energy progressively and can increase mood. Ironically, exercising helps fight fatigue in cancer patients because it promotes better blood flow and circulation as well as encouraging the body to sleep.
Talking about sleep, maintaining a good sleep hygiene is important. Establishing a calm environment before you sleep and preserving regular sleep–wake schedule and reducing screen time can improve your sleep quality, thus combating fatigue. Also, small sleeps throughout the day may provide a quick energy lift while not affecting the night sleep.
Nutrition also has a central role to play. Healthy foods filled with fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grain food keep the body active and reduce fatigue. It is also important to maintain adequate levels of fluid intakes since lack of water leads to fatigue disorder.
Have you heard or noticed that fatigue can be reduced with the help of stress related techniques including meditation or deep breathing. A number of patients also draw comfort and support from friends or family or from support groups to ease the psychological load so as to save energy for treatment as well. These strategies are considered helpful to cancer patients to manage the constant fatigue and these are some of the aspects they should borrow to keep healthy.
