How to Promote a Love of Reading in Young Children

Do you have passion for reading? You can influence a love of reading to your children in various ways in order for them to enjoy what knowledge has in store for them. I will take you through some ways believed to bring passion for reading among children.

1. Start Early
It is right to teach children to read books right from their childhood. You can always read to them stories even when they do not understand anything. This puts them into contact with language and rhythm.
2. Create a Reading Routine
Choose a special time for reading for example before going to bed daily and this will make your children associate reading with comfort.
3. What Books Do You Choose?
Choose the books proper for the child’s age and visually interesting. This will help them a lot even in their growth.

4. Make Reading Interactive
I advocate that parents always have a conversation about great stories by asking questions about the story or making them guess what happens next.
5. Accompany Them to Visit Libraries and Bookstores.
It has been noticed that regular visits to libraries or bookstores, help increase the passion of reading to your children as they are able to choose books of their interest.
6. Leading by Example
To promote the passion of reading among your children, I think its best that they see you love of reading books and this will be an example for them to follow.
