June and November are collective months for supporting the Men mental health. Mental health has become a societal concern now more than ever. Everyone is trying to learn ways and means to help each other and men are not accessing the needed quality health.
It helps build a more impartial society that prioritizes everyone well-being. The societal pressures and cultural narratives make it hard to address men emotional challenges.
The Need
Men’s mental health is frequently a societal expectation and is important because men face a discouraging perception when it comes to emotional expression. Besides, many men feel pressured to exhibit the pressured outlook of being strong and self-reliant. The outlook can lead to suppression of emotions and stereotyping when seeking help.
Men Mental Health Evidence
According to the data on suicide from the CDC control and prevention program, men die 3.86 times more than women. The use of firearms accounted for more than 55 percent of all suicide deaths in 2022. Therefore, associating the statistics across men and women, the males have a much higher rate because of negative stigmatization. Thus, it discourages them from seeking help for their personal problems.
Remarks
The men mental health month is crucial but we ought to also consider the overall men’s health. It is however, agreeable that nowadays it is easier for men to access mental health than the past.
Still it is crucial for the society to address the problem of stigma that men should not seek mental health support.
Men mental health is important to share and help men undergoing depression, anxiety, anger and mental health challenges. No one can make it in this place alone and it does not make anyone less of a man.
