What do you think of potty training? We can all agree that this is an important step in the development of a child as they transit to their independence in using the toilet. Here are some tips and tricks on how to train a child to use a potty.

1. Readiness Signs
Do you know that many children are ready between the age of 18 months and three years to use the potty? Some signs to check are; interest in toilets or showing discomfort in dirty diapers.
2. Choose the Right Equipment
It has been advised that one should allow the child to choose a potty of their choice as this may make children eager to use the potty.
3. Create a Routine
You should make it a habit that the child either goes to the bathroom after a meal or before bedtime.

4. Positive Reinforcement
Have you motivated your child? It is advisable to make the experience enjoyable, by rewarding them with gifts.
5. Modeling Behavior
It has been noted that children learn by example and if possible you can allow them see some family members use the toilet.
6. Dress for Success
What kind of clothes do your child wear? From what I understand, it is best that you put on clothes that are easy to remove on your child in order for them to manage themselves.
7. Patience is Key
I think it is not advisable to punish your child as it is a learning process and you should instead encourage them by assuring them to remain calm.

8. Ensure you Always Stay Positive
Praise success at every step and make potty training more of a game. Try to have fun whilst writing in order to motivate your child.
